IONIAN COAST

The Ionian Coast is full of beaches with miles of sand dunes, tourist services and facilities, with everything from small natural ponds with turquoise waters, to secluded coves where your only companion is the sea. The area is dominated by the largest active volcano in Europe, which in turn is located in the largest nature reserve on the island. Catania, the capital of the east coast, is black with the lava used to construct its buildings, yet simultaneously full of life and beauty. In the surrounding area there is a beautiful stretch of cast, the Cyclops Coast, which is home to the best known and most popular resorts, such as Aci Castello, with its lava beach, and Aco Trezza, a fishing village where visitors can eat excellent fresh fish. Sun, sea, history, culture, or nature – whatever your reason is for traveling to this area, the Ionian coast will give you the warmest of welcomes and inspire unforgettable emotions.
